Wat Pariwat (David Beckham Temple)

This temple blends traditional Thai Buddhist architecture with modern pop culture in a way that surprises and delights visitors. Its ornate exterior and interior are covered in intricate mosaics and sculptures, but what truly sets Wat Pariwat apart are the whimsical details hidden among the decorations—figures of superheroes, cartoon characters, and famous personalities like David Beckham, who is immortalized in a small statue on the temple’s base. Despite these playful touches, Wat Pariwat remains a functioning place of worship, with beautifully detailed Buddha images and serene spaces for reflection. The temple’s fusion of sacred art and contemporary creativity makes it a fascinating example on the syncretistism of Thai culture.

Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)
One of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks, Wat Arun stands majestically on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Its central prang (Khmer-style tower) rises over 70 meters high and is beautifully decorated with pieces of porcelain and seashells, shimmering in the sunlight. Although it’s called the Temple of Dawn, it’s particularly stunning at sunset or when lit up at night. Visitors can climb partway up for a fantastic river view.

Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen (Giant Buddha Temple)
Located in a quiet neighborhood west of the river, Wat Paknam is now famous for its massive golden seated Buddha, one of the tallest in Bangkok. Standing at 69 meters high, the statue can be seen from miles away and is quickly becoming a modern symbol of faith. Inside the temple complex, visitors will also find a striking glass stupa and peaceful meditation halls, blending traditional reverence with contemporary grandeur.

Khlong Bang Luang Market

Nestled along the Bang Luang Canal in the Thonburi district, the market combines old-world charm with creative energy. Wooden houses line the waterway, some transformed into cozy cafés, art galleries, and souvenir shops selling handmade crafts. Visitors can wander along the narrow walkways, enjoy local snacks, and watch the boats glide by. The highlight of Khlong Bang Luang is the Artist’s House, where local artists perform traditional Thai puppet shows and display their artworks, keeping centuries-old traditions alive. Peaceful yet vibrant, the market provides a relaxing escape from Bangkok’s modern bustle and a chance to experience authentic Thai canal culture.
